We at Bettymedia, will be hosting an upcoming event, Cake and UX. It’s a presentation/discussion series, where we serve cake and wine, while leading experts in blockchain and AR/VR discuss user experience (UX).

Blockchain forward-looking startups and developers are rushing to build projects that take advantage of what the new technology can offer, but what’s often overlooked is: User Experience.

Lack of UX in emerging technologies is causing more headaches for users. Its complexity means end users find it hard to appreciate the benefits.

We will delve deep into how blockchains, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR) or mixed media, can change the way we live, society, do business, and improve governments.

We will discuss:

  • An understanding of fundamental UX design process, how to effectively apply it, and design trust
  • What is blockchain, cryptocurrency, and what makes them so different from other technologies and services
  • The architectural difference between centralized application versus decentralized (DApps) applications
  • Tips and tricks to quickly get to understand your users, then identify and prioritize their pain points
  • How to do quick and easy user testing, utilizing data and design research
  • Real-world examples in the blockchain and AR/VR, of how to improve the user experience, the content, and more
  • Case studies from big brands and startups to illustrate concrete do’s and don’ts when it comes to bringing great UX to the world and on the blockchain and AR/VR
  • What minor improvements to the usability of blockchain tools can help bring the tech to more users and to the non-tech savvy
  • …And more.

This event is for entrepreneurs, founders, small business owners, marketers, developers, designers and enthusiasts.

Agenda:

6:00 pm — 6:30 pm: Doors open, cake and wine for guests, networking.

Often in blockchain, the focus is on UI design, but not UX. UI is part of UX. It is the icing on the cake. UX is a holistic approach to research, design, and development that puts the customer first, and leads to big increases in your business. Just like baking and decorating a cake, it requires building upon layers. If one layer isn’t right, then the cake falls apart. The same for your website, products, services, applications, and it should be same for blockchain.

Still not convinced?

Here are a few facts:

According to Andreas M. Antonopoulos, “Bitcoin UX design is a mess: All the words, metaphors, paradigms are wrong and internally inconsistent. Coin, wallet, key, address… etc.” Due to a lack of UX design, this has led to confusion and transaction failure for the users in cryptocurrency.

Developers spend 50% of their time reworking projects, fixing errors that would have been weeded out with UX Design investment.

88% of consumers won’t come back to a website, once they’ve had a bad experience with it.

70% of existing small business websites didn’t have a clear call to action, resulting in millions of dollars in lost leads and sales.

Invest in UX.

We know User Experience (UX) is a key component of website, landing pages, marketing, branding, social media, virtual reality (VR), services, and applications. Blockchain companies must take it seriously, as well.

Why…

• Users in blockchain run into trouble when making transactions
• Users are not able to understand how to maintain wallets (“what are public keys, private keys?”)
• Inconsistencies, lack of informing users’ time on confirmation, clear explaination of fees, onboarding process
• Too many jargons and buzzwords causing confusion

“What will destroy Bitcoin? Governments? Hackers? Winklevoss twins?

Usability.
